Sketches excite me. There is a certain level of potential energy in a sketch that is not always present a finished piece of art. It seems to be searching for a final resolution. These quick drawings were created in a sketchbook while riding the New York City subway. The subjects are visitors, tourists, and fellow New Yorkers who like me are passengers—sharing a point of connection in wanting to get to their final destination. They are like living sketches themselves, waiting to finally arrive as finished pieces.
